    Carrie Song is a global energy executive and strategic growth leader with 25 years of success scaling multi-billion-dollar businesses across renewables, oil & gas, chemicals, and power.

    As Global Senior Vice President at Neste — the world's largest producer of renewable diesel and SAF — she managed a $9 billion P&L across renewable diesel, SAF, and chemicals, leading a 50+ person commercial organization across three continents. She spearheaded business growth from $3 billion to $5 billion in three years, built strategic alliances including a 50/50 JV with Marathon Petroleum, and led landmark offtake and SAF supply agreements with partners including Boeing. At BP, she delivered sustained double-digit growth across lubricants and additives in the Americas, APAC, and the Middle East, significantly growing market share in Brazil. Earlier at Cummins, she launched and scaled a new power generation business and founded a $1 billion data center segment. Carrie also brings deep expertise in commodity trading, M&A strategy, and value-chain optimization. She holds a Master's in Management from the London School of Economics and an M.S. in Marketing from Texas A&M University.

    Dan leads strategy development and administration for the company and is driving multiple collaborations with key stakeholders to deliver cost-effective, practical decarbonization solutions in the transportation sector.

    He previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Crysalis Biosciences (ATJ) developer and operating ethanol plant operator, and as Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer at NXT Clean Fuels (HEFA, FT), where he originated and closed investments from a major airline and commodity company. Earlier, Dan led the development of sustainable alternative energy platforms for Pilot Flying J, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, and was selected as an Aspen Institute First Movers Fellow for his work in corporate sustainability.

    Dan also served as Chief Financial Officer of World Energy, one of the world's first producers of SAF. With over 30 years of experience in the global energy sector, he has held leadership roles at both operating companies and major financial institutions, including Exxon, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, and MUFG.

    Managing Director

    Gene Cotten brings over 40 years of experience in project design, engineering, and execution across the oil, gas, and renewable energy industries. He has held senior executive positions at leading energy companies and served as a senior advisor specializing in energy acquisitions and technical due diligence.

    Over the past decade, Gene has led scoping evaluations for more than 20 renewable diesel and SAF projects, focusing on technology selection, site assessment, project scope definition, and cost estimation. He served as President of NXTClean Fuels, where he oversaw technical process design and project execution for a multi-billion renewable diesel and SAF facility, and as Vice President at International Alliance Group. He also led turnaround operations and ethanol-to-jet development at Crysalis Biosciences and provided governance oversight for operating SAF plants.

    Earlier in his career at Valero, Gene led operations across multiple refineries totaling over 500,000 BPD of crude processing, directing multi-billion-dollar capital projects, refinery acquisitions, driving plant optimization, and strategic development initiatives.

  • JIM SPAETH

    Managing Director

    Jim brings 40+ years of experience in engineering, project management, business development, and government affairs across the private sector and federal government.

    For over 30 years at the U.S. Department of Energy, he held progressively senior roles culminating as System Development and Integration Program Manager at the Bioenergy Technologies Office, where he led deployment strategies and coalition development for sustainable aviation fuels. His portfolio represented over $1 billion in DOE investments in integrated biorefinery projects advancing biofuels and bioproducts for aviation, marine, and other heavy-duty applications. As Director of the Office of Commercialization & Project Management, he oversaw $7 billion in EERE portfolio projects. Jim also led DOE's international bioenergy engagement, serving as Chair of the Biofuture Clean Energy Ministerial Initiative — a 24-nation coalition — and completing a three-year term as Chairperson of the IEA Bioenergy Technology Collaboration Program.

    Prior to joining DOE, Jim spent over a decade in the aerospace industry, holding engineering and business development roles with McDonnell Douglas and Boeing.

    Lance is a chemical engineer with over 35 years of worldwide experience in hydrocarbon process development, catalyst and adsorbent commercialization, and pilot-through-commercial scale-up of renewable fuel technologies.

    At Honeywell UOP, he served as Principal Engineer for Renewable Energy & Chemicals Development where he delivered the DOE-funded Integrated Biorefinery project demonstrating thermochemical conversion of biomass to finished transportation fuel. He lead programs that generated hundreds of millions in new product value across novel catalyst, adsorbent, and process technologies, holds 21 patents and 16 published applications, and has presented at major industry conferences including AIChE and TCBiomass. Lance is the Founder & Managing Partner of RenewAgility LLC, providing feedstock supply chain development and benchmarking data across the renewable fuels value chain. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Washington State University.
